It’s that time of year again: Edinburgh is buzzing with excitement. The Christmas events, held throughout the city, are almost upon us. The “unofficial” signs of the festivities beginning became largely apparent on Monday with the arrival of the Christmas tree on the Mound. The now world famous Norwegian Christmas tree is gifted every year by Bergen’s Community Council to honour the assistance Scotland provided during WW2.

The logistics and planning which have gone into getting the tree to Edinburgh in the first place, not to mention the actual process of lifting it into place, has been a task of great magnitude. Provided the lights were stored in the correct environment, there should be few issues. Incorrect storage of electrical items can cause their fragile component parts to malfunction: fingers crossed there are no issues!

The Christmas tree is just one part of an extremely well organised machine that is Edinburgh over the festive period. There are a whole host of events and attractions to experience between now and the 4th of January 2012. Below is a brief overview of some of the highlights not to be missed:
The above list is by no means exhaustive: the events being held in Edinburgh over the Christmas period is endless and none should be missed. So, if you are out and about in the centre of Edinburgh over the next 4-5 weeks, make sure you at least pay a visit to the Christmas fair and sample some of the delights on offer.
