The leaves are turning red and brown, and rapidly lining the streets of Edinburgh. The rain has gone from falling in vertical direction to more of a horizontal one. Before UK summertime is officially over, the winter months seem to be upon us. Shorts, t-shirts and days at the beach are being replaced by woolly jumpers, scarves and staying in with the heating on.

This does not include non-essential items purchased, or any items purchased by affluent individuals: the figures relate to family purchases only. Taking this into consideration, a sizeable amount is spent each year regardless of who is spending it. As a result, it makes sense to look after any item of clothing and footwear as much as possible to get the most use out of them.
There is the possibility of a late holiday in sunnier climes where your summer wardrobe might get the last bit of sunshine for the year, but even then it’s a week or two at the most. Making room in your wardrobe for new clothes is not only difficult but expensive if you are simply getting rid of your clothes to make room for new ones. Although you generally accumulate clothing over a period of time, if you were to calculate the total cost of your entire wardrobe you can be rest assured the final figure is not something to be sniffed at!
